Paris Saint Germain midfielder Claude Makelele's fiancee, 30 year old Noemie Lenoir, tried to kill herself on Sunday, at Mekelele's home, in the same day that he received an award for his entire career, the French press announced on Wednesday.
According to the La Parisien publication, Makelele's fiancee called the ambulance on Sunday, telling them that she had consumed alcohol and took a number of pills to try and take her own life. She was at Makelele's house at that moment, situated in a luxurious part of Paris.
She afterwords canceled the call and left home without announcing the player. She was then discovered unconscious by a passer-by in the La-Celle-Saint-Cloud zone, with pills next to her.
She was taken to a hospital and is now out of peril.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, on that same evening, Makelele had attended a gala organized by the Professional Footballer's League of France, where the best of the best soccer players from the French championship were acclaimed. Makelele, who is 37 years old, received a trophy for his entire career.
The player missed training the following days, citing personal problems. The two have a son together, 5 year old Keylan.
