As expected, Chelsea have a good start in UCL Group D, winning their opening match against FC Porto, 1-0. Despite the Portuguese champions have played a quality match, French striker Nicolas Anelka scored a wonderful goal and decided the match.
APOEL Nicosia also have a nice start. The Cypriot football team held a draw at Vicente Calderon against Atletico Madrid, 0-0. APOEL are expected to play the same type of soccer tonight, but it will be a lot more difficult against Carlo Ancelotti’s side than with Atletico.

Despite playing away from home and their disappointing loss against Wigan on Saturday, Chelsea are the big favourites of this match. Also, Carlo Ancelotti will miss Michael Ballack and John Obi Mikel, both injured, but the English side still seems to be too powerful for the Cypriot team.
On the other hand, Joe Cole could make his European return and Daniel Sturridge is ready for action. About the tonight’s match, Carlo Ancelotti says: “We are top of the group and we obviously want to win. It won’t be easy because APOEL are a big team with lots of enthusiasm. They did a good job in Madrid, we respect them and we need to play well against them”.
APOEL’s coach, Ivan Jovanovic, will be without Polish strikers Marcin Zewlakow and Adrian Sikora. Jovanovic said: “A team like Chelsea need no introduction. They are the best side in the group, a team which wants to win the Champions League”.
